Conversation With My Mom – A Holocaust Survivor

April 21, 2020 is Yom HaShoah – or Holocaust Remembrance Day. On this day, we honor Survivors and Victims, and we remember.

Suzanne’s story of resiliency, strength and courage must be heard. Lisa Early will interview her mom, Suzanne Schneider, and share with us how she and her parents survived during the Holocaust.

A little background on Suzanne’s incredible story: Suzanne lived with her family in Poland. She will share how her family was forced to live in a ghetto and how they had an opportunity to escape the ghetto because her father  was a medical doctor. A typhus epidemic had broken out in the area, and he was given permission to leave the ghetto to assist with providing vaccinations and care for those in the surrounding areas.  This allowed him to arrange for his wife and young daughter to hide in a chicken coop owned by courageous non-Jewish Rescuers who were later deemed Righteous Among Nations by Yad Vashem – the Holocaust Museum in Israel.

Suzanne will describe how her father smuggled in bricks to create a hiding place and how they lasted for two years in hiding.

After the interview, we will open for the audience to ask questions.
