Unsilence Injustice: A Secret At Auschwitz

JOIN US ONLINE FOR THIS LIVE EVENT Featuring Dr. Danny M. Cohen from Northwestern University and Founder of Unsilence and co-facilitated with Sammi Oberman.

EXPERIENCE: Through interactive storytelling, this workshop will take you on a journey with Danny as he recalls his first visit to Auschwitz and encounters hidden stories of sexual violence against women and the treatment of homosexual prisoners in the largest of the Nazi camps. Throughout the workshop, we will pause for small group discussions, connect Holocaust history to ongoing oppression today, and explore a framework for speaking out against injustice in our communities and around the world.

SKILLS: This workshop will give you the opportunity for personal reflection and open discussion about different perspectives. We will engage in critical thinking about history and its broader implications for people and societies today. And we will explore how and why narratives of oppression can become controlled and we will consider the practice of unsilencing as a form of activism.

UNSILENCE: Through storytelling, the arts, and interactive learning, Unsilence fills a critical gap in civics education. The organization works to unsilence hidden injustices and marginalized voices, spark dialogue, support critical thinking, and build empathy to inspire healing and social change.

REGISTER NOW! Only those who RSVP, will receive a link to access the event. Hosted online by the School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University.

Program generously sponsored in part by: Matt & Shane Broffman and Andrew Snyder.
