Can You Hear Me? Sorella’s Story
Join us at the Holocaust Center of Florida on September 22 at 2 PM for the screening of CAN YOU HEAR ME, a behind-the-scenes documentary exploring the creation of the 360-immersive VR film SORELLA’S STORY. This powerful film follows Australian-Hungarian filmmaker Peter Hegedus as he uncovers his family’s dark history after discovering an 80-year-old photograph of people on a snowy Latvian beach during World War II. The journey reveals connections that resonate across lives, families, and geopolitics today. SORELLA’S STORY, a contender at the 2022 Venice Film Festival, recreates the tragic final journey of 10-year-old Sorella to the Baltic Sea beach where nearly 4,000 people, mostly women and children, were murdered by Nazi collaborators. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to experience this harrowing story through our VR headsets at the Center. Don’t miss this exploration of history, memory, and storytelling in an immersive format.
