The White Rose Tribute Event
Honoring the Massey Family
The theme for 2021 was Generations of Generosity as we proudly honored a fitting recipient for the Tess Wise White Rose Award, the Massey Family. We were thrilled to host this outdoor reception and program on the future site of the Holocaust Museum for Hope & Humanity! We celebrated the Masseys and raised crucial funds to support vital programs which allow our organization to provide students of all ages with unique and inspiring educational opportunities.
We are very thankful to our Recorded Event Partner, Bank of America, for enabling us to produce and share these videos.
Please enjoy this video recap of special highlights!
The Main Stage!
The program at the White Rose Tribute event was a highlight of the evening. Our Board Chair Michelle Feinberg welcomed everyone to the future home of the Holocaust Museum for Hope & Humanity. Valerie Shapiro helped explain the significance of the White Rose award and its connection to Holocaust history and Alexis and Jim Pugh provided a moving tribute to all the members of the Massey Family. We were fortunate to have two 9th grade students on hand to share their experience in participating in our UpStanders and Names Not Numbers programs. Thanks to the generous support of our Recorded Event Sponsor, Bank of America, the program is here for you to enjoy.
Generations of Generosity

The Tess Wise White Rose Award, presented each year by the Holocaust Center, reminds us of the actions of a group of courageous students in Germany during WWII who created a non-violent resistance movement called, The White Rose. The group of students, led by Sophie Scholl and her brother Hans, worked day and night to publish flyers criticizing Germans who did nothing to combat the Third Reich’s tyranny.
The individuals honored with this award are active and vocal members of our community. Like The White Rose, they believe that only through participation can we build a better home and a better world for all.
For the Massey family, the values of inclusiveness and respect form the foundation of their philanthropic efforts that include significant investments in education, arts and culture, human and health services across our Central Florida community. In recognition of their dedication to our community and generous support of our Holocaust Center and its vision for the new Holocaust Museum for Hope & Humanity, we are honored to present the Tess Wise White Rose Award to multiple generations of the Massey family!
